Modernization and efficiency upgrades at the Bonn North Gas and Steam Plant

SWB Energie und Wasserversorgung Bonn/Rhein-Sieg GmbH operates the combined heat and power plant Bonn Nord at the plant site Karlstraße 2-6 in Bonn-Endenich. This power plant was converted from a pure gas turbine plant to a combined cycle power plant between 2009 and 2013.

With the goals of energy efficiency and CO2 reduction, a series of conversion and modernization measures are now imminent, which also necessitate structural building changes. These civil works in the middle of Bonn will be executed while the plant will continue operation - quite a challenge to accomplish this in a compatible way.

Heitkamp Industrial Solutions GmbH takes over the construction of:

• a powerhouse incl. switchgear rooms, transformer installation room and gas turbine foundation
• a workshop and office building incl. the technical building equipment
• a foundation for the installation of a waste heat boiler
• and the construction, as well as the adaptation of the outdoor facilities and traffic routes
